On Saturday, March 28th, a man working at an Eagle Lake convenience store realized his cell phone had been stolen from a countertop. The phone was valued at about $1,300. Security video showed the theft occurred at around 1:30 pm. The victim recognized the suspect as a customer who has visited the store about every other day for the past year, but his name was unknown. The security video also showed the license plate of the suspect's vehicle as it left the scene. The registered owner was 37-year old Brandon Jamal Campbell of Eagle Lake. Photos of Campbell matched the suspect in the security video. The Find-My-Phone feature was used, and the phone was located at a Kissimmee store that buys old cell phones. The phone was recovered and returned to the victim. On Sunday, March 29th, Campbell was located at his residence and #ArrestedByThePolkCountySheriffsOffice. Despite the evidence against him, Campbell denied stealing the phone. Regardless of his claim of innocence, he was charged with Grand Theft (F3). The Osceola County Sheriff's Office was notified about Campbell's duplicitous transaction with the Kissimmee store, and an additional charge for Dealing in Stolen Property could be forthcoming from that jurisdiction. #PCSO #PolkSheriff

Sunday morning, March 29th, at around 8 o'clock, a man stopped at the Circle K store at 8324 US 98 in Lakeland. After exiting the store and returning to his vehicle, he found that someone stole his cell phone from within the car. The man immediately used his phone-tracking feature and saw that it was showing a location at another nearby store, so he drove to that location. When the man arrived at the store, he saw that his phone was showing around in the vicinity of an unoccupied black PT Cruiser. Then he noticed a woman walking to the black PT Cruiser, and she noticed him. The woman quickly got into the PT Cruiser and drove away from the area at a high rate of speed, weaving dangerously through traffic. The victim contacted the Sheriff's Office. The suspect was eventually located and stopped after a brief attempt to outrun law enforcement, and she was taken into custody. At that time, the suspect stated, "The phone is on the seat." It was recovered and returned to the victim. The suspect was identified as 48-year old Erica Latrice Oliver of Miami. Oliver has two prior theft convictions (in Columbia and Duval counties). She was taken to the Sheriff's Processing Center and charged with Felony Petit Theft (F3), Burglary of Conveyance (F3), Fleeing to Elude (F3), and Reckless Driving (M2). Lakeland PD also had a criminal charge against Erica Oliver. During her morning misconduct, it seems that she had also started a small fire in the restroom of a Lakeland Dollar General store.
