@safe_creative From what I’ve seen yes, either people clip out special scenes from a larger YTP or they just make their own short style YTP. YouTube algorithm definitely pushes those out a bit more than regular videos used to.
It’s crazy how much the YouTube Shorts meta has really changed growing your channel nowadays. I have to make multiple tiny edits of a larger video just for it to be seen a little more - seems like a lot of extra work… I’m not used to it lol
That video to this day still has rendering issues from me re-editing it for YouTube. There is supposed to be a slow zoom in whenever it played the sad piano music for Peter. But now it just cuts closely and pauses, the original version of that video is definitely lost.
My Spiderman video is one of my favorites but it’s also one of my harsher memories, early DMCA exploits were used on that video to get me banned. People back then could just point to a random person in the video, make privacy complaints and YouTube would strike you.
The reason a lot of names in my video titles were misspelled was because there used to be a belief back then that misspelling would avoid copyright detection. It’s really silly looking back, but YouTube used to be more strict to users before monetizing was viable.
I do really miss YouTube Annotations, they were such a fun gimmick to use for easter eggs. My Heavy Rain video used to link to a bunch of unlisted videos that were all their own hidden jokes. Not many people found them because I didn’t really hint them well enough.
@Strange_Soldier That was another video concept I had back then. I wanted to make a Sonic X Sonic and Knuckles Double feature YTP that had an intro video where you could choose your character. I made the intro video to it, but sadly that is also unlisted and lost.
@Deepercutts I've seen annotations used for Choose Your Own Adventure type of videos and those were cool. There's still browser add-ons that bring back the feature if the video is old enough, but it sucks that you can't use them anymore.
@The_G_Zone You’re absolutely right, I used to use all of those features too. I feel like in general it was a far more expansive place to just surf the site and explore
@jackelopet41710 Heheh yeah, it’s one of my absolute favorite videos. It was definitely the one I felt the most creative with in terms of spoofing something to tell my own different story.
@Deepercutts >Heavy Rain
Ethan driving into oncoming traffic with Shaun in the back did irreversible damage to my sense of humour as a kid. Shame you can't get onto the channel anymore.
