Stitch: @DocAmen May is #MentalHealthMonth 🤍 And when it comes to kids, what we allow in matters more than we think. We want to encourage you to be thoughtful about what and when you introduce technology, and proactive in how you prepare your kids for it. #DigitalSafety

In a podcast from @nextTalkOrg one mom shares how her “mom gut” uncovered a terrifying truth: Her 12-year-old son was being groomed by a man in his 60s, posing as a 19-year-old, and even pretending to be his older sibling to gain trust. nexttalk.org/podcast_episod…

This is a true story from @anne.marie.holistic.rn, who is intentional about how screens are used in her home. 📱 When screens are always the default, kids are more likely to be exposed to harmful or inappropriate content online before they are ready. #Screentime

Parents, did you know there is a messaging feature inside Spotify? 👀 💬 Like any messaging feature, it can open the door for unwanted or inappropriate contact, including strangers sending links or chat requests. Watch this video to see where the messaging feature is located.

Sometimes kids see things they aren’t ready for, even in a game they love. 🎮 This is why preparation matters. A little guidance can make a scary moment feel safe. 📚 Good Pictures Bad Pictures teaches kids how to notice, respond, and get help when they see something bad.

Kristen Jenson just declared that pornography is a “silent epidemic” ruining our children’s lives. “Nobody wants to talk about it.” “But it’s hurting children.” “You’re seeing it in the mental health numbers.” “That isn’t just screens and social media.” “A lot of it’s pornography.” “You’re just seeing lives ruined.” “I have so many women coming up and telling me: I’m divorced because my husband was addicted to porn, and I just couldn’t handle it… I’m out of there because I feel so betrayed.” “The good news is that there are tools out there now that help parents begin these protective conversations… teach their children to avoid all of these harms, because they’re probably not going to be able to avoid seeing pornography, but they can avoid just dousing their brain with it.”

Hoping your kids won’t be exposed to p*rnography isn’t a plan. When children know what p*rnography is, why it’s harmful, and how to respond, they can recognize and reject it even when filters fail. Start the conversation before exposure happens. That’s how we protect kids. 💙
