Ben Folds testified before Congress that Trump's takeover of the Kennedy Center transformed the institution into a "hyper-politicized environment" and eliminated the barrier between politics and its nonprofit mission. "For the first time in history, a president took control of the Kennedy Center's programming and messaging. The firewall between politics and the Center's nonprofit mission was eliminated. The result was a hyper-politicized environment. Gone was the apolitical sanctuary the Kennedy Center always provided... "I think most of us understand that when you politicize art, you've got propaganda." consequence.net/2026/07/ben-fo…

In response to @POTUS's call for a revival of America's scientific enterprise, today I’m releasing Science: A New Golden Age. This report is a blueprint for renewing American scientific leadership for the 21st century.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has replaced Kyiv's military chief, General Oleksandr Syrskyi, after days of widespread protests against the removal of the country's popular defense minister, whose ousting revealed an unprecedented public split in the military over its strategy in the war against Russia. cnn.it/3ThAQkM

It is really important that @LauraLoomer is in Ukraine and sees things with her own eyes as they are. There is no better way to get informed opinion than through personal experience which allows to deal with Russian propaganda.

Just experienced my first air raid in Ukraine. Sirens blaring. This is everyday for every Ukrainian. I feel like such an asshole for minimizing the struggle of Ukrainians for the last 5 years. I often said I don’t care. Looking back, that wasn’t very nice of me to say. There are people in Ukraine who have to run to a bomb shelter everyday and some of us had the audacity to say Russia wasn’t wrong because we believed the lie that Ukraine is a country full of Nazi sympathizers. We have been so propagandized by Russia and we don’t even realize it. Air sirens could very well be the future of America if we don’t start demanding our lawmakers crack down on communism and multipolarity. We won’t have Trump forever and the axis of evil is moving fast.

Landon shares his gripes on pay-to-play in America. “Somebody has to pay for soccer. The problem is, all these youth clubs now are grinding every penny out of every family. I have kids. I can afford to pay for it. My kid has four training jerseys. Why the hell does he need four? They have to use the hotels that our club tells them they have to use because the club’s getting a kickback from it. They have to use the insurance company. They’re traveling to Vegas from San Diego at eight years-old to play a game. This is ridiculous.”

Journey keyboardist Jonathan Cain blasts Bruce Springsteen as an “annoying, bitter old man” who should "shut up" when it comes to politics. “I’m a diehard conservative… And guys like Bruce Springsteen should shut up. You know, really, honestly, shut up, Bruce, you know? Him and… who’s the other one? Robert DeNiro. I mean, who cares, guys? Do your art. I try to keep politics out of my music... Now, people say, ‘Well, you’re a Christian and you’re conservative,’ and I’m like, ‘So what?’ I don’t preach it on stage. I don’t spend 10 minutes talking about it… And Bruce, I mean, what the heck? I used to like him, and now he’s just annoying. He’s an annoying, bitter old man. I mean, stop it. Really. You were born in the USA, weren’t you, dude? So act like it. But even that song, if you look at the lyrics, I mean, it’s a kind of a diss toward our country.” variety.com/2026/music/new…

Jonas Vingegaard refused to blame a 2am anti-doping test for his Stage 15 exit from the Tour de France 🇫🇷

🎙️ How are things with you? 🗣️ Jonas Vingegaard: "Well, surprisingly well. It is of course very disappointing for us to exit this way, and that the Tour ends like this, but that's how bike racing is sometimes. And fortunately for that, it's only a broken collarbone." [TV 2 Sport]
