@Tigerbreen44 @utahmammoth I told you I did stats because you implied I wouldn’t understand them. You cherry-pick data to support your dislike of Durzi. Do you think Bear and GMBA rely on stats like you posted to evaluate talent? Seriously? Hockey is a lot less Moneyball analytics than you may think.

I’m simply a conduit for objective data, which I’ve provided to support every point. The basis of your argument has now become- “I kept stats for years in pro hockey” > data. Regardless, I’ve enjoyed the “debate” and hope our paths cross again. I sincerely appreciate that the Mammoth are starting to get fans who care. The base is too soft, all rainbows and roses. If you’ve convered hockey for years, you understand these debates are what fuels the passion of the fan base. If a player has a bad game for any other team in the league, or is having a bad season, the fans call it out! Are we wrong? Maybe. Are we passionate, yes! Cheers

@Tigerbreen44 @utahmammoth I don’t need your money. I certainly don’t need your graphs and explanations. I kept stats for years in pro hockey. The fact that you believe Durzi is “terrible” tells me you really don’t know much about hockey.

- as a defender, G/A lose value if you give up more than you give (+/). We call this net impact. The left hand tears down what the right hand builds. - “effective on PP” and “can play both sides” aren’t data points. And if we wanted to tie him to the PP, we’re at the bottom of the league for PP and PPK. Probably not the best area to say he’s effective. - icing the puck, I’ve been tracking it for every game since last year. Sitting on the ice at home games and watching away games. 107 so far this year. Impressive, I know. It’s not a traditional stat but controlled exits is, and that’s essentially the same thing but even more revealing. You can find that on allthreezones.com. You’ll have to pay for the service and I’d be happy to loan you money if needed. Couple objective images from last night.

@Tigerbreen44 @utahmammoth I’m lazy? OK. Durzi is 3rd among D with 17 A (7th on entire team); second among D with 5 G. Effective on PP. can play R or L side. You don’t compile stats like that by “leading the team in icing”. BTW, where do you come up with that “stat”?

Being good enough to make the NHL doesn’t live in perpetuity. That’s why waivers, buyouts, scratches, and retirements exist. Saying “he’s in the NHL so he must be good” is a lazy argument, at best. It’s emotional opposition to a take that doesn’t fit your predetermined conclusion. No counterpoint. Feels like debating AOC. Difference between you and I- one of us hopes we’re wrong and it’s not you. Cheers

@slcpuck Hayton is first C on PP. Stenlund cannot fill that role. Hayton has become as dependable on faceoffs as Stenlund.

@Tigerbreen44 @utahmammoth -Leads the team in icing? Thats a stat? -Being third on the team on PIM is not an indication of lack of skill. You’re just a Durzi hater. If he was really as bad as you believe, he would not be playing in the NHL. But “fans” like you think you know more than NHL coaches & GMs.

I could make the same argument against you for not providing an explanation for why he’s good. But, I’ll humor your request and do it without being condescending. Subjective: - falls more than any player on the ice - loses more 50/50 battles than anyone on the ice - can’t clear the puck, throws it down the boards and hopes Objective: - leads the team in icing - 3rd on the team in penalty minutes (missed several games) - 2nd fewest hits on the team as a defender - worst +/ on the team at -5 (Cole +20, DeSimone +6, Marino +37, Schmitty +27, Sergi +3) Cheers

@Tigerbreen44 @utahmammoth No, dude. You say Durzi is “so bad”, yet you cannot explain why. Clue: Durzi is a solid NHL d-man. Simashev may be better than him in a couple of seasons, but not right now.

@utahmammoth Durzi is so bad. Let’s do what’s best for the team and put the playoffs ahead of pride. DeSimone and Simi > Durzi.

@BagleyKSLsports Boldy? If USA wins, every player and every coach deserves the gold. But Connor has been outstanding. The skaters need to win this for their keeper. 👍🏼🤞👍🏼🍀

The only American that deserves to win this game is Hellebuyck. My word. Canada is putting on a clinic.

I get that you hate the NHL being in Utah, but here’s where we’re at: •Utah is getting a Stadium Series in their third season. That’s not normal. That’s a big deal. •The Mammoth are already closer to a Stanley Cup than the Jazz have been in… what, two decades? What genuinely needs to be studied is why you can’t celebrate both instead of constantly trying to dunk on the NHL team IN YOUR OWN CITY. It’s actually crazy work.

@andyblarsen Come on, Andy. The NHL has been here less than two years, and it is already set to host the Winter Classic, which is a huge deal. In time, Salt Lake will host an NHL All-Star game. And as far as free-agent signings? Give it time. Re-signing star players like Cooley is huge.

The NHL vs NBA comparison in Utah. NHL: Entrusted an unknown market with a struggling franchise, supported a rapid relocation process with a single offseason to prepare, coordinated two rebrands, increased nationally televised games both years, won the draft lottery in year 2, awarded the marquee winter classic event in year 3. NBA: Fined 500K for embracing the system the NBA has created yet still beat Miami, haven’t played for a title in almost 30 years, never picked first overall, never won the draft lottery, allowed the national media to create a false narrative about Utah as a market, never landed a top FA, consistently overlooked in terms of nationally televised games. Blatantly obvious that the NBA doesn’t care for Utah while the NHL already loves it.

@BagleyKSLsports I wouldn’t call Salt Lake “an unknown market” at all. We’ve had pro hockey here for over 50 years. We hosted the 2002 Winter Olympics. We’ve hosted many NHL preseason games over the past many seasons. The NHL knew exactly what is was getting in this market.
