Happy to share our @GoogleAI @GoogleDeepMind milestone of two @Nature publications today on Project AMIE - the art of the possible for empathic, conversational, diagnostic medical AI. AMIE exceeded Primary Care Physicians in a randomized comparison of simulated text-based medical consultations, with higher diagnostic accuracy and ratings of communication skills. In complex "NEJM CPC" case challenges, AMIE outperformed physicians alone, while access to AMIE improved physician performance. These studies have important limitations but show the clear promise of AI systems to be meaningfully helpful for clinicians & patients.
