(he/him). I mostly talk about the NBA, Video Games and Anime while making shitty jokes.

than I would've expected. Just from the league's perspective you think they'd really want to crack down on specifically calling a ref out by name AND saying they were biased and shit. Though I guess hard to do that when you also agree that the refs were bad.

Personally I think that as long as your within 5~ games and don't have weird absences (none of Ant's qualify IMO) then you should be allowed in. Effectively giving a buffer for actual injuries but still restricting "Load Management".

But I guess the NBA is determining that either the criteria involves "larger" injuries OR that being 1/2 games short is fair but not 5. Either way I can see logic to it, just have to hope that it's consistent going forward.

Yeah my understanding was always that having a serious injury that meant you just barely missed the criteria was allowed. Ant's injuries are more spread out and a bit weirder in the pattern of missed games.

Just in: The NBA and NBPA have ruled in favor of Lakers' Luka Doncic and Pistons' Cade Cunningham on their Extraordinary Circumstances Challenge for the 65-game award rule, making both eligible for all 2025-26 season honors such as MVP and All-NBA teams, sources tell ESPN.

I've basically been staring at this for 40 minutes trying to explain out how absurd this seems to me. Everything from the fine amounts, to the suspension decision to announcing it...just baffling. Can't imagine being a Heat fan (or part of the org).
Shams Charania@ShamsCharania

The NBA is fining Charlotte's LaMelo Ball $35,000 for his trip of Miami's Bam Adebayo and upgrading the action to a Flagrant, plus fining him $25,000 for cursing postgame, sources tell ESPN. $60K in fines, Flagrant. No suspension.

Well shit. Only firm take I have is that Bam is absolutely never getting much credit for this. There were fringe complaints about Kobe's 81. More for Booker's 70. Hell even Wilt got shit for his 100. But Bam is going to get roasted for this constantly.

So what the fuck is up with Bam right now? Did the Wizards kill his dog or something?

I mean, don't know why people are describing it as a "trip". Dort pretty clearly tried to randomly hip check Jokic on the way down the court. Obviously coach gotta defend his guy but it was a pretty clear Flagrant foul for no reason. Dumbass thing for Dort to do.
Underdog NBA@UnderdogNBA

Coach Daigneault on Lu Dort's ejection: "I will say this... if a player is running up the floor and gets tripped, we expect a Flagrant 2 from this point forward. That's all. That's the precedent."

Bridges gets 4/5 (2 for hitting Duren, 3 for following back towards the bench). Moussa gets 3 and Duren gets 2 (threw a punch at Bridges but it didn't connect). Doubt that's all that close but I'm always interested (and baffled) at how the NBA handles suspensions.

after the initial conflict and started it again with a punch. Frankly, feels like something the league would want to crack down on just as much as leaving the bench. Feels like 5+ game suspension for Stew (4 for leaving the bench, 1 for throwing a punch + more if it hit)

If we're using logic. Beef Stew obviously gets the most games, for a combination of leaving the bench to join in + prior behaviour (the Draymond Rule). After him it's got to be Miles Bridges right? Like sure Moussa threw two punches + the charge. But Miles followed Duren...

going to be Mitchell, Harden and Schroder. I Individually I understand both trades (kinda). Don't love either but at least understand why you would come to that decision. But combined? Just an awful set of moves that seem beyond desperate.

So why would you trade Hunter for two guards just to trade Garland for Harden? Just seems genuinely baffling to gut your (already weak) wing rotation just to add more guards. Especially since the three your giving serious minutes to are almost certainly...

Am I crazy for thinking that the Jaren Jackson Jr trade was clearly a terrible return. If they got three Jazz firsts I'd be MUCH more interested, but as it is they got two mediocre picks and maybe a single good one (the Suns). Just don't think it's all that good of a trade.

Thanks Endfield. I uh...won the 50/50. Wonder how I'm going to spend the rest of my free tickets.

I feel like Schroder got insanely lucky to only get 3 games. Just generally I feel like the league want to heavily discourage players from going after each other after games. Maybe seems bad. Worse than getting into an on-court fight IMO.

Considering what the Trae Young package was I wouldn't be shocked if the Jazz packaged Jusuf Nurkic, Georges Niang and Taylor Hendricks to get Ja. Hell, might be a bit too valuable. Maybe the Grizzlies have to give up a 2nd.

I dunno, just seems like it'd be better for the NBA if it broke down why each player got suspended + the specific decisions made behind the length of each player. Doesn't super matter here but for more impactful suspensions it would help fans (maybe players too) a lot.

He does the big arm swing where he clocks Jose in the head with his elbow, hell before Jose throws a punch Mark tries and misses. Surely THAT would qualify as escalating it from a normal tech/ejection level offence into a multi game suspension?

See I kind of think the NBA needs to more vocally explain the decisions they make in these suspensions. Because after looking at the clip they provide (and replay angles) it absolutely looks like Mark Williams is the one to escalate the fight.
Shams Charania@ShamsCharania

The NBA is suspending New Orleans Pelicans guard Jose Alvarado for two games and Phoenix Suns center Mark Williams for one game after their fight Saturday night, sources tell ESPN.
