I’ve been seeing some public debates regarding the subject of what some call “crypto Greeks” in Turkey.
“Crypto” means hidden or secret. This term doesn’t define the vast majority of people in Turkey who have Greek ancestry or DNA.
The correct term should be “Islamized Greeks” as the vast majority of us in Turkey, whose Greek ancestors were forcibly Islamized, have no knowledge of our true history. So, these people are not “crypto Greeks” - they are descendants of forcibly Islamized Greeks. Using the correct term matters.
Also, please avoid talking about us and the predicament we are in after treating us with utter disrespect.

Thats my father… and with him is Robin… our 17-year-old Rottweiler… who was sleeping attached to his chest.
When we came inside and saw them like that… my heart just said to take a picture.
At that moment, I had no idea it would be the last picture of them both.
That same night…
my father breathed his last in his sleep… and Robin was lying right next to him.
Then, two days later…
Robin also passed away.
It really feels like he couldn't live without him… the connection was so deep.
He stayed with him for life… and in the end, did not leave him alone.
The one who raised him… loved him… went after him.
Now, just thinking about this brings a little peace…
that somewhere, somehow, they are still together…
still attached…
just like they were in that last picture.
Two different bodies… but a single bond.
Forever. 💔
