@VirtueSlayer233 @gogirl_0 I thought Ruby was going to sacrifice herself to save everyone. I thought it was fitting for the most optimistic, the most attached to the ideals of a "hero", and to follow in her mother's footsteps. But her ascension in v9 satisfied this, and wouldn't make sense going forward.

I'm just a hobbiest, but even I've made RTS, Racing Games, TPS, FPS, RPGs, Beat em Ups, and even a Mech Simulator. Maybe the issue is not that indies are making the same 5 games, it's probably more that journalists focus more on games with trending genres and tropes.

@FracturedRTS Same. It was probably the reason it wasn't as well known compared to its cousin Red Alert 2, since most average computers of the time struggled to play this game even in the lowest settings. It was way ahead of its time. It's too bad because Emperor was a quality RTS.

@Raymond_McNeil Exactly. IRL good urban design doesn't always translate to good level design. Similarly, ReVolt by Acclaim has you driving RC Cars in tracks inspired by urban locations like supermarkets and museums. While fun to race in, none of these locations make sense in an IRL context.

I think presuming AI is responsible for a wonky world layout is jumping the gun here. If I applied that same logic, then the Spencer Estate was AI generated back in 1996. Game worlds serve the game/story, logic second, as much as I'd like the two to merge peacefully.

I hate to my negative about content here but this is an actual industry plant. It’s ok to like this sort of game, but how it’s presenting itself hurts actual indie games. - real licensed music - massive array of custom assets and cutscenes, fully voiced too - insanely pricey press kits sent out to small and big CCs - presents itself as “indie”. This is not “indie”. This is a refined product that was made for millions. Most likely a medium sized team of 12-30 full time for years. This kind of low hanging fruit stealing + indie labeling hurts actual small dedicated teams of real game devs. There will be actual indie devs that miss out on awards this season because of this extremely well funded AA title masquerading as an indie.

@thomasbrushdev Hi, I'm a game dev hobbiest who has been making his own games since 7th grade. I love the 90s-2000s era of games. I still use the same software running on a Win XP machine. Instead of AI, I built my own libary of assets that I can easily repurpose for all my games.

Is anyone NOT using AI at all in their game? Like absolutely NO ai code assistance even? Go!!
