I'd like to think the reason Black Clover has so many missing fathers is because Tabata himself lost his dad early. He was primarily raised by his mother. His wife kept him going when Shonen Jump was beating his ass. You can see his love in all the powerful mothers in the manga

Since Asta's father clearly wasn't relevant, I'm guessing Licita gave birth to Asta and THEN she was hit with a curse because i don't see Asta surviving the curse whilst in the womb/during labour/after. She was clearly alone giving up Asta. #BlackClover #ブラッククローバー
