Hey my @zama friends Let’s take a moment and imagine the internet before HTTPS. Everything was public, insecure, full of hackers and spies. Banking transactions, emails, private chats, all exposed for anyone to see. Then HTTPS arrived… and everything changed.
Today, over 95% of web traffic is encrypted. We browse, transact, and communicate without constantly worrying about being watched or exploited.
🔗 Blockchain today is exactly where the internet was before HTTPS. All transactions are public. All balances are visible. All histories are permanently exposed.
Yes, transparency builds trust, but it completely destroys privacy.
This public-by-default design enables: • MEV and front-running • Government surveillance • Targeted hacks and wallet profiling • Financial censorship
🛡️ This is where @zama enters the picture.
As Rand Hindi (CEO of Zama) said on a recent Ledger podcast:
“Zama Protocol is the HTTPS moment for blockchain. We’re bringing privacy as the default standard.”
🔐 What is Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE)? In simple terms: it’s encryption that allows computations to happen directly on encrypted data, without ever decrypting it.
That means smart contracts can execute logic, update state, and produce results, without anyone ever seeing the underlying data. Transactions stay private forever.
🚀 What does this unlock for crypto?
• Truly private DeFi, swaps, lending, yield farming with hidden balances • Confidential tokens, private airdrops, vesting, staking • Onchain identity, prove you’re human without revealing who you are • Fair prediction markets, encrypted bets until final reveal • Onchain AI, training and inference on private data
⚙️ Zama already has a live testnet, a mainnet coming soon, and with fhEVM you can build directly on the EVM you already know. With coprocessors and GPUs, performance is scaling toward thousands of TPS.
Rand Hindi’s prediction:
“95% of blockchain transactions in the future will be encrypted with FHE.”
This isn’t just another crypto project. This is a paradigm shift.
Because without privacy, we don’t truly have freedom.
So what about you? Still building on fully public blockchains, or ready to jump on the Zama wave and help build the private future of Web3?
