In the steady rhythm of the British electoral system, the 2026 local elections face a challenge: Amu Gib, currently held in HMP Bronzefield for direct action at RAF Brize Norton to disrupt the flow of arms used in Israel's genocide, is standing for election to Islington Council in north London.
From the outside, it is easy to dismiss such a candidacy as a marginal or symbolic protest – a statutory outlier rather than a serious political intervention.

🚨BREAKING -- Four Palestine Action activists who raided an Elbit Systems factory in August 2024 have been found guilty of criminal damage. Samuel Corner, Charlotte Head, Leona Kamio and Fatema Zainab Rajwani were found guilty of criminal damage today, while Corner was also found guilty of GBH without intent. The two other defendants, Zoe Rogers and Jordan Devlin, were found not guilty.
