Starting a war without any foresight about how it would affect the fuel industry and the economy. Tearing down the East Wing of the people’s house without permission in order to build a bunker ballroom because of the man’s insane admiration of Adolph Hitler. Telling Americans to put up or shut up about gas prices saying, “it’s not that bad.” Calling reporters piggies. Getting fake “peace prizes.” Stealing our hard earned money to enrich himself and his family. Showing up in a vile human traffickers files thousands of times. Befriending a pedophile. Allegations of rape. Civil liability for raping a woman in a dressing room. Soiling himself in public while playing tennis. Using the words, “bing, bing, bong, bong, bong” in a public speech. Staring directly at a solar eclipse. Falling asleep in public on television while his sycophants sing his praises. “One of the best presidents in history”? Please. I know kids in elementary school who could probably run the country better. I’m expecting to get posts about how the whole world loves him. The sitting president of the United States is openly rooting for the Confederate general who fought to keep human beings in chains. Let that sink in. “Why couldn’t that have been settled” is the most revealing sentence he has ever uttered. Settled how, exactly? Because the only settlement on the table was whether millions of Black Americans would remain enslaved. That was not a negotiation. That was not a scheduling conflict. That was the entire question. And he is upset it lasted four years. Not upset about the 620,000 dead. Not upset about the cause. Upset about the timeline. This is the same man who restored honor to Confederate generals, fought to keep their statues up, and called the people marching with tiki torches in Charlottesville very fine people. This is not a slip of the tongue. This is who he is and has always been. Before, I’ve said this party has romanticized the past like slavery. I said my grandfather would have recognized these people from World War II. And here is the president himself, standing at a podium with the seal of the United States, lamenting that the Confederacy did not win. This is not a normal political disagreement. This is not left versus right. This is a man who was given the most powerful office in the world and is using it to mourn the wrong side of the Civil War. My grandfather is rolling in his grave.

Trump on Civil War: Why couldn't that have been settled? Maybe it could have been. Robert E. Lee was an amazing general. He took something that was supposed to end in a day and made it last four years. If Gettysburg didn’t happen, he would’ve won.
