@monjalexander Maybe interesting: the German expression ist Sterbetafel. Tafel is table and sterben means dying. I thought it is interesting that the two languages look at it from opposite directions.

@peterseibel I get the Lisp 1 vs 2 (namespace,...). But I didn't get the 1.5 for R. A mixture of both? Or a bit of a joke, referring to the legendary LISP 1.5 programming manual by McCarthy (1962), meaning R's rules for namespaces are even more ancient?

Common Lisp and Java are Lisp-2s. Scheme and Javascript are Lisp-1s. R is a Lisp-1.5.
