@squazzoni I fully agree! Journals should take their responsibility to ensure the scientific process is as efficient and high-quality as possible. Meta-research on peer review could help a lot to find better ways of doing things.

Instead of stimulating mostly unproductive debate, #publishers should use their profits to create a data sharing infrastructure with peer review data available to the community for systematic and rigorours research. We suggested this five years ago here: nature.com/articles/d4158…

I just became president of a scientific society and my first act was to disagree with one of my heroes...Arie Kruglanski gave a keynote arguing social psychology needs MORE Big Beautiful Theories. I think that's exactly backwards. Here's why...

Excellent meta-research: A trial within a large trial shows that consent form length impacts recruitment. Please consider too much text can exclude vulnerable groups / We need to rethink consent forms, too much information may harm. jamanetwork.com/journals/jama/…

@DenOlmo The cuts are to pay for other things currently deemed more important - military expenses, paying back people for the toeslagenschandaal, etc.

Isn't it weird that different governments can take the exact same scientific knowledge about the state of science, and respond in completely opposite ways? This is what I see in The Netherlands vs the USA. Almost as if the problem is not the knowledge, but the government 🤷

Here's some good news! The file drawer problem may have diminished in recent years, at least in social science survey experiments "This suggests increased recognition of the importance of null results."
