Full Time: Nigeria Falconets 2–0 Malawi U20 (First Leg) ⚽️ Own goal ⚽️ Ifeanyi Kindness 🇳🇬 58’ A solid and professional second-half performance sees the Falconets take a two-goal advantage in this final round of the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Qualifiers. All to play for in the second leg, where Nigeria will look to finish the job and secure one of the four tickets to represent Africa at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.

@abuotor @NGSuper_Falcons The coach had the same issue with Edo Queens at some point. I even feel that was the reason they didn't win the Caf Champions League.

@Den_ife @NGSuper_Falcons Yeah, they wasted a lot of chances, finishing was very poor, the Coach needs to work on their final 3rd play and decision making

I was impressed with their pressing in the second half, we are still struggling with friendlies for the @NGSuper_Falcons, but the U17 and U20 should also be playing regular friendlies and having some training camps, they shouldn't be having camps only when it's close to a game. The Coach needs more time to know his best players and the players to understand his philosophy
Mr Simon@TheBey0nder

Nigerian coaches will pick 5-6 good players and then fill the rest of the squad with subpar players.....incredibly frustrating

@Den_ife @YinkaTinuade @AdemolaVictorTv The way the coach was mumbling in the pre-match press conference, I suspect we’ll be lucky to see Janet back (and firing on all cylinders) before the WC - assuming we qualify of course. The team also missed the craftiness of Shakirat Moshood.

@JWsports1 True... But I feel the score line did not reflect the true complexion of the game.

@Den_ife Did. And the scoreline does not read 8-0. Wastefulness isn't caused by thin air.

#U20WWCQ || FT: Nigeria 2-0 Malawi Second-half goals from an OG and an Ifeanyi Kindness strike ensure the Falconets seal a first-let win. Impressive from Malawi, that scoreline against Africa's most successful U20 side is not too shabby. Return Leg: Bingu Stadium, Saturday.

@AdemolaVictorTv on disappears. They dominate games with good build-up play and sharp passing, but the final product is lacking. I noticed the same issue with Edo Queens, which suggests it’s something the coach must address urgently both at club and national team level.

@AdemolaVictorTv I won't lie this team is genuinely good. They're far more coherent and organized than the previous Super Falcons side. The big problem, however, is their inability to score goals. Whenever they get into the final third or enter the 18-yard box, it’s like everything they’ve worked

@abuotor @TheBey0nder @NGSuper_Falcons The saddest part is that it feels like fans and supporters are doing more scouting and pushing for these talents than the coach himself. At the end of the day, this is why we need a foreign coach. The issue has gone way beyond tactics.

@abuotor @TheBey0nder @NGSuper_Falcons This is exactly the problem I have with us relying on Nigerian coaches. They often show crony bias towards players based outside Nigeria especially new or high-potential talents. This lady should already be part of the Super Falcons. She possesses exactly what we’re missing.

@TheBey0nder if Randy Waldrum was still the Coach of the @NGSuper_Falcons, she would have been a key member of the team today, just as he did with Deborah

@amara_faitho @CAFwomen The Super Falcon is likely not going to play these qualifiers until the third round as both teams that are likely to face in the 2nd round are likely to withdraw

@abuotor Waldrum’s greatest strength was that he made Nigeria difficult to beat. Even the big teams had to work extremely hard to get a result against us. He instilled resilience, organization, and a competitive mentality that earned respect. The foreign players brought in were technical

@abuotor like Japan and the United States, his teams regularly battled strong African sides such as Ghana and Ivory Coast in competitive fixtures. These were not easy matches that any local coach could simply walk through and win, especially when playing them back to back.

"They were so fast in every position, so strong in every position — that was the hardest game I’ve ever played in my life," said Bright and Daly (England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿). Back-to-back Women’s Euros champions and 2023 World Cup finalists saying this about their match against Nigeria 🇳🇬 really shows the work Randy Waldrum did. Some people may not like him, but he is the only coach since 2000 who made Nigerians believe they can go toe-to-toe with any team in the world. 📸 Daly Brightness YT
