This week, the Year 4 Young Ambassadors went out with Mrs Bradfield and Mrs Stephens to plan their walk for Year 4 to undertake next half term. They found lots of interesting sights to share with their friends in June. They can't wait to share more about their activities soon!

Year 6 took part in a debate this week linked to their class reading book, Holes, by Louis Sachar. They allocated different roles to discuss the question: Should young delinquents be sent to Camp Green Lake? I think we may be seeing some in The House of Commons in years to come!

Year 1 have had a fantastic week and have shown great enthusiasm in their learning. They especially enjoyed their computing day, where they learned how to use directional keys through a series of fun games and mazes.

This week in art we have be looking at the primary colours and how you can mix them to make secondary colours. We also learnt that opposite colours on the colour wheel are complementary to each other. What fun we had painting!

This morning Jen Craft, Thurrock MP, visited Deneholm. She toured every classroom, met staff, answered pupils’ thoughtful questions, and spent time talking with some children. Our pupils were brilliant, engaged confidently and represented school wonderfully throughout the visit.

Year 4 have been busy! We have been sketching and exploring textures, preparing to make some junk models later on in the term. In science, grouped living things in five ways: mammals, amphibians, reptiles, birds and fish. We also spoke about herbivores, omnivores and carnivores.

This week Year 2 explored democracy during assembly. In art, they enjoyed outdoor learning—sketching the school’s flowers and plants in the style of Henri Rousseau.

Year 3 have really enjoyed writing mythical stories and learning how to correctly punctuate speech. We have been really impressed with their writing skills. We look forward to showing you their work at the Year 3 Showcase on Wednesday 29th April at 14:45.

What a fantastic start to the summer term Year 2 have had! They've been making chocolate Rice Krispie cakes to practise instructional writing, exploring Henri Rousseau’s paintings, and experimenting with different digital art styles in computing.

Reception had a fantastic first week back after the Easter holidays! The children returned happy, settled, and ready to learn. Well done, everyone 😊

Year 5 have read a discussion piece on whether children should wear school uniform. Today, they had a debate. They produced excellent for and against arguments. Well done Year 5.
