@MsCastillosMath What a great idea. What do you think @MrsDesaSPS ?

Do a number talk with them at Math Night. You will be shocked at the response from parents! What are some other ways we can share the love with parents? #SPSMathChat

Now how do we get parents on board with this way of thinking about fluency? #SPSMathChat

A7: Oh ya...and I do the daily fluency as number talks. #SPSMathChat

A7: I have a fluency station as part of my math rotations. I questioned my activity choices as I read this chapter so I am very excited to read more to improve this station. #SPSMathChat

@Jenkins2nd I would agree @MsCastillosMath is amazing! She has totally transformed my thinking & teaching of math!

A6: I think many schools use them because they do not have the tools or the amazing Catherine to help them see what fluency really means. They are lacking information and resources. I also think it is easy, it is quick and easy to grade and the way we were taught. #SPSMathChat

A6: Because teachers do not know any other way yet and many teachers rely on their prior knowledge which is timed tests. #SPSMathChat

A5: These were definitely an a-ha moment for me. It helps to build on the foundational skills to expand into new learning and figuring out different ways to use numbers to help solve problems. #SPSMathChat

@Jenkins2nd @MsCastillosMath Yes! It is so interesting to see their thinking.

A3: With the implementation of Daily Math Fluency I am excited to see all the strategies our students have in their toolbox to solve problems. I also love their willingness to try new strategies #SPSMathChat

A4: They take shortcuts to develop fluency. Often taking students from Phase 1 of fluency to Phase 3. They don't have the strategies under their belt to use them. #SPSMathChat
English

A4: They aren't developing all 4 areas needed to have fluency. #SPSMathChat
English

A3: i think for me I would like to focus on appropriate strategy use. #SPSMathChat

A7: I don't even know where to start. I've learned new ideas to try in my classroom. It has also challenged me to really look differently at the way I teach math. I am loving it this year! This has been amazing! #SPSMathChat

A6: I am constantly reflecting! This is sometimes hard when things don't go the way I planned. I am always looking at what went well, what didn't, and ways to make it better for next time. This helps me plan for my upcoming lessons. #SPSMathChat

A5: I think to give time for talking as well as writing, making sure we use language that is not only specific but yet easy to understand, and making sure everyone has time to share. #SPSMathChat

A5: I would love to try the exit tickets, journal prompts, or the four corners. #SPSMathChat
