They were conducting a citizens arrest for what they thought was a felony. The guy was a cop up til that previous year, and this was right around the george floyd hysteria where they made an example of 3 innocent white men. The guy that videotaped it got 20 years in prison. Only a sub 70iq groid could make sense of that. If arbery complied the cops would've came and probably arrested the mcmichaels and set arbery loose.
