Come for the crystal structures, stay for the implications for Trojan horse antibiotics. A beautiful and thorough study!

@ZachReitzPhD @Dr_Lori_Burrows I wouldn’t trust results from docking alone. There are also other docking programs that may give a different prediction so experimental validation is still important 🙂

@DerekCKChan1 @Dr_Lori_Burrows Thanks for answers! The docking seemed to be well supported by your experimental validation. I just wonder if we can trust docking in the absence of experiments, and I'm thinking the answer is still no? But I haven't worked with any of the docking software myself.

@ZachReitzPhD @Dr_Lori_Burrows The orientation of the molecules may not be correct but it gives us a rough idea of where they might bind in the transporter, which we can then test.

@Dr_Lori_Burrows @DerekCKChan1 Also, I wonder how safe this assumption is, more broadly: "Docking assumed that the siderophore-Fe3+ complexes are in similar orientations in their native transporter and in FpvB."
