John Tortorella declined to speak with the media after advancing to the Western Conference finals. The Golden Knights also didn’t open the dressing room after the game. They brought 1 player into a side room to speak, along with the two who spoke at the podium. I’ve been covering the NHL for nine years and never seen either of those happen once.

@Derek_Lee27 @TheHockeyNews Nice analysis. Was pretty surprised Dostal was not very good in the playoffs. I kind of thought he’d be more at the level he has been for his national team. The vets foot speed hasn’t fit in as well. I think we have to decide. Trouba or Carlson, not both.

So…my in-person Anaheim Ducks coverage for the 2025-26 season has come to an abrupt end
En route to Vegas for Game 5, my family (wife and 3-year-old) and I were involved in a car crash on the I-15
Miraculously, we all walked away and are doing ok

@ZachCav They’re going to complain about kissing McNabb for one game. We lose Poehling for the season.

NHL DoPS determined McNabb delivered a late hit with “considerable force” against an player ineligible to be hit which resulted in an injury.
NHL DoPS said that the interference penalty, Poehling’s injury and McNabb’s clean discipline history led to the 1-game ban.

@ZachCav Terry and Kreider have looked off this whole series. Something has got to give with the two of them because they are making maybe one or two good plays a night and giving up defensive chances because they arent hard on the puck. Brutal way to lose in a very winnable game.

Mitch Marner speeds out on the breakaway, and Dostál comes up with the stop. However, Pavel Mintyukov gets a (light, one-handed) slashing call on the way back.

Ryan Poehling goes down hard, and is struggling to get up on the near boards. Poehling is eventually helped back to the bench, and helped down the tunnel, as well.
Poehling was looking behind him without the puck, and Brayden McNabb gave him a whollop. Refs review.

@ReindeerGames91 Just wish Beckett kind of got his moneys worths. He tried to wreck him and kind of missed. Vegas philosophy is just keep taking penalties and make refs call it. They don’t.

@DerekDifani Two things can be true. I never said Vegas shouldn’t have been called for more but PPs are 3-1 and you recently took the lead. Do not give the ref a reason to make a call for something away from the puck

Just an extreme lack of discipline from Sennecke right there. You can certainly be annoyed that there was no even up penalty, but Sennecke has to be more disciplined and composed there.

@MattPayner @ReindeerGames91 Vegas is a borderline team. Dirty is probably too strong but they have no fear of taking penalties. Refs just don’t call it

@ReindeerGames91 I’m fine with this. Why rein them in, they play better when they’re all fired up. It benefits Anaheim more than Vegas imo.
Also incredibly incredibly soft officiating all playoffs. I’m hoping this is a one off year cuz if this direction continues, it’ll be the NBA in 10 years
