Didn't dive into it much in this piece, but a few thoughts: -- Positionally, UK ended up in a great place with Tharnish and Hindle back. Five starters return from 2026. The lineup has a chance to be awesome. -- This is the most intriguing group of freshmen pitchers in several years. Will need to see them develop, but some good options that should hit. -- Weekend staff could really use a strong bounce back season from Ben Cleaver. Can Nate Harris make a leap? As always, development will be huge for the pitching staff.

UK MLB draft recap: - Tyler Bell becomes second highest draft pick in program history. - Jaxon Jelkin lands in the 4th round with the Phillies. - RHPs Connor Mattison, Nile Adcock go late. - 2026 commits Jimmy Anderson, Robert Omidi go in top 10 rounds and are expected to sign. - LHP transfer Cooper Corkrean goes to the Royals in the 18th round. Could be a late tough blow. - Matt Ponatoski goes to the Reds in the 18th, but would be surprising if he signs. All in all, I think it’s a big day for Kentucky. The Atlanta Braves take UK RHP Nile Adcock in the final round of the MLB draft. Good developmental bullpen piece for the Cats in 2026.

The Cincinnati Reds select UK football/baseball signee Matt Ponatoski in the 18th round. For what it's worth, the Reds selected three high schoolers in the 18-20 rounds last year that they did not sign.

Kentucky LHP transfer Cooper Corkrean, who played at New Mexico last year, was selected by the Kansas City Royals in the 18th round. He's the first transfer commitment to be selected.

Kentucky RHP Connor Mattison is the third Wildcat chosen in the MLB draft. He goes to the Minnesota Twins in the 16th round.

Massive developments today for Kentucky with Willougby getting through the draft and Jayce Tharnish returning to school. A return from Ethan Hindle could cap a huge day for the program.

RHP Grayson Willoughby tells me that he's withdrawn from the MLB draft and will attend Kentucky. The Cats get their top commit to campus. Ranked No. 31 nationally at Perfect Game and was considered a top 250 player coming into the draft.
