That’s a huge number. If I was to do it over again, I would NEVER shop my production out. I’ve heard so many bad stories. Our first 4.5 years I ran the production and the quality control was very personal. After we found our copacker, it was a constant battle to get refunded for bad product. Sometimes we’d have up to 1/4 of our run unsellable because of bad labeling or under filled jars. It took so much time and effort to track their mistakes and get refunded, it totally out paced the “savings” for shopping out the labor. You live and learn I guess.

Dude that is fucking insane. That’s exactly what shut down our nut butter business. It was our copacker. I’m really sorry to hear that Deric. Running a small packaged food business is a huge risk and the slightest bad luck or bad partnership can take you out. I really liked your “no fucks” marketing. I think you could do something great again if you have it in you. We lasted 10 years and got burned twice which was unrecoverable but I still want to do a healthy hazelnut cocoa butter again one day. It’s just so hard to get back on your feet after you get knocked down, but it’s a worthy thing to make healthy food products. 🙏
