Inclusion Ireland, @AsIAmIreland and @DownSyndromeIRL have called for a pause in the implementation of the new Special Education Teaching Hours (SET) Allocation model, due to a lack of prior consultation and significant concerns on the removal of complex needs as a factor for allocating SET hours to schools. Following this call, we had a lengthy engagement with Minister Madigan and senior officials in the department yesterday and have agreed to further engagement in the coming days. In particular, we have emphasised the need for a robust, timely appeals mechanism and future commitments on ensuring the voices of our communities are central in matters which affect our children. We would urge families to complete our short survey below, which will take less than 3 minutes to complete.
