Our Chief Executive Officer, Claire has been selected to Chair a specialist engineering and manufacturing organisation. Claire will lead the EAL Advisory Board, part of the Enginuity Group, which consists of providers and employers from across the UK.

bit.ly/3GeBcip - It's fantastic to see that our partner employer, Sylatech has been awarded a grant of over £2 million to expand its manufacturing. Sylatech have invested in apprentices for many years' and have seen the benefit of growing their own talent.

It was a pleasure to sit down with her to hear all about David's passion for engineering, his life and his projects and we thank her for thinking of Derwent Training for this kind donation.

Donald Oldfield, Director of D.A Oldfield and Co-Founder of Derwent Training, came along to thank Patricia and tell her all about how it will help Archie with his training, and their business. Patricia described Archie as 'the perfect recipient'.

Yesterday we were delighted to welcome Patricia Hartley to the training centre. She has kindly donated a lathe to us that belonged to her late-husband David. David was a Mechanical Engineer who trained through an apprenticeship and loved undertaking engineering projects.

This week learners are taking part in register briefings for Road Safety Week. The focus this year is on speeding and the impacts this can have. Every time we drive too fast we increase the risk of a crash.

Congratulations to Max, Harry and Jake who were presented with awards at the William Hare Apprenticeship Awards at Elland Road on Friday. Gary and Bob were in attendance to support the apprentices, and the work William Hare do in developing their employees.

At the eleventh hour, on the eleventh day, of the eleventh month - we will remember them. On Armistice Day we remember those who gave their tomorrow so that we could have our today.
