We had our E-sports Family night tonight! We invited a few more of our @DesertaireElem clubs to join in on the fun! Thanks to our Cheer, Chess, Folklórico & Archery clubs for lending us their support and bringing more families together! ...I definitely thought I took more pics 😅

Our 3rd–5th graders read at least 5 Texas Bluebonnet books so they could vote for their favorite Today we celebrated with cupcakes & juice while students talked about their top pick of the year. Our favorite: Volcanoes by Nell Cross Beckerman. Texas, your move @TXLA

Today we celebrated students who read 20 books for the 2nd 9 weeks with pizza, juice, and a book! 📚🍕 Our new reading challenge is live and will take us through Spring Break. Be sure to log your books, family reading counts and is encouraged!

A little STEM in the library Part 2! Our 5th graders explored lunar phases with help from Science/Math Coach Ms. Reyna & teacher Ms. G. NotebookLM provided the intro video, and we added 2D & 3D moon models to bring the phases to life! Stay tuned for more science in the library!

This year we strengthened our STEM section and partnered with our 5th grade science teacher Ms. G to bring all classes into the library for hands-on science lessons. The library isn’t just for reading, it’s a hub for exploration, curiosity, and discovery.

8/20 📘 Volcanoes is a FIERY (😜) follow up to CAVE! With explosive facts, real science, and amazing artwork, it’s a must-have for every classroom shelf, especially science teachers! I learned cryovolcanoes. Yes, ice eruptions! 🤯

7/20 📘Bash is a ghost who’s terrible at ghost stuff; can’t turn invisible, pass through walls, or even scare anyone! But with a little help from his new best friend Itsy, he MIGHT survive scare school. A quick story about friendship, courage, & figuring things out your own way.

6/20 📘 Pedro Flores didn’t invent the yo-yo, but he made it iconic. A Filipino immigrant with a dream, he carved, spun, and hustled his way into toy history. “If it isn’t a Flores, it isn’t a yo-yo.” Perfect companion to Rubik’s story. 80s kid dream. Now we need Pac-Man book

5/20 📘 I can see why this was a Newbery Honor. Magnolia’s parents run a busy laundromat. She’s short on friends until Iris shows up. Together, they track down lost socks and uncover stories about identity, belonging, and the power of unexpected friendship.

4/20 📘Definitely tempted to dust off my own cube and start twisting again after reading Erno Rubik and His Magic Cube. It's a short but inspiring read about the quiet inventor behind one of the world’s most famous puzzles. I need to plan an activity for my Bluebonnet club!!
