We have heard a lot of questions about the possibility of the United States passing similar face scanning and privacy-killing laws. Here's our position: First, we would seek legal counsel from the existing privacy foundations who represent similar cases. We believe our case would be a strong vehicle for challenging such laws. Of course, this depends on organizations like the EFF or ACLU choosing to take up the fight. Second, in the case such laws passed and we truly had no choice, the server architecture would be modified to become fully decentralized. This is the nuclear option and would kill some platform features like simple server discovery and free one-click community hosting, but it is an option we are prepared to utilize.

@stonetoss To be absolutely transparent, to date zero people on our platform have been banned for the quoted section of TOS - but you bring up a good point, and that document (which is years old) needs to be updated to reflect a far more objective standard.

When our founder was doxxed (he was a discord partner at the time) Discord deleted his community when he sent them the police report. That's right. They punished the doxxed, not the doxxer, because they did not want to help with law enforcement.
