My guest today is Brian Chesky (@bchesky), founder and CEO of Airbnb and one of the great consumer founders of the last 20 years. Paul Graham coined "founder mode" based on Brian's experience running Airbnb. Main goal of capital markets is to give stability and instruments by which traders can hedge and speculate.
You can tighten the margin requirement and look at financual education or net worth.
But closing down the instruments is detrimental and won't solve the original issue.
Ppl will find other means to burn their money.

Not sure why everyone is surprised.
SEBI chairman Tuhin Kanta Pandey has reiterated time and again that reforms are needed on F&O side as retail customers continue to lose money primarily in options. Maybe today was the 3rd time he said something similar in last 2 months. Even SEBI WTM Ananth Narayan had hinted at something similar in one of his speeches a few weeks back.
In my view (based on all public news and comments from the regulators), there are only 2 options that regulators may have -
a. Reduce Weekly expiries further to either fortnightly or monthly.
b. Bring suitability in some form in F&O. Link exposures to something like margin or income or net worth. Not easy though.
Retail clients continue to loose money and that doesn’t seem to be going well with the regulators.
Not sure when, but some movement may happen on this side over next few months.

I went extremely light on my positions on Thursday.
As of now I m not sure how markets would open. So it was a great a decision to not keep thinking about it and lose sleep.
Sonetimes, A decision to not trade is also a great trading decision.
