Choose the battles worth fighting. While doing Ethernaut, I found 2 or 3 challenges where I identified the bug but didn’t complete the level. The reason is simple: Sometimes you realize you’re investing too much effort into something, while that same energy could create more value elsewhere. In those moments, make the choice that moves you forward the most. You’re not competing with anyone. Your real goal is to improve your skills every day.

🦖 Day 309 of learning blockchain👾 Spent today going through bug bounty platforms and studying how the whole ecosystem actually works. A few things that stood out: → Scope is everything. Before touching any code, you read the program's scope doc — which contracts are in-scope, which impacts count, which ones are explicitly out. Finding a "bug" in an out-of-scope file pays nothing. → Severity isn't your opinion, it's a matrix. Platforms like Immunefi publish exact severity tables (Critical / High / Medium / Low). You match your finding to a listed impact — "direct theft of funds," "protocol insolvency," "contract fails to work correctly but doesn't lose value," etc. No matrix match = no payout. → Known issues = rejected. Programs list pre-acknowledged issues. Reporting one of those is an instant close. → Calibrating severity matters reputationally. Inflating Low → Medium gets you downgraded and flagged. Submitting at the right severity builds trust with triagers over time. → Each platform has its own flavor. Immunefi, Code4rena, Sherlock, Cantina, HackenProof — different scoring, different dispute processes, different competitive vs. bounty formats. The code is only half the job. Reading the rules carefully is the other half.
