@hamad_bachi @Mish_K_ "Religions revere God, so every religion is actually Islam" is not convincing. "Israel is not Abraham". So what?

Islam didn't exist then.
Not A Fish@hamad_bachi

@Mish_K_ how do you not know: The "twelve princes" are then named in Genesis 25:13–16: Nebaioth, Kedar, Adbeel, Mibsam, Mishma, Dumah, Massa, Hadad, Tema, Jetur, Naphish, Kedemah. None of these are tribes of Israel.

@hamad_bachi @Mish_K_ Besides, linguistically speaking, "Israel" means "struggles with God". This is obviously very different from "Islam" which means "submission".

John Podhoretz
John Podhoretz@jpodhoretz·
When an American like Rahm Emanuel says Jews need to take "risks for peace," which is something both Bill Clinton and Barack Obama said before him, it reminds me of the practical necessity of the existence of the Jewish state—so someone can, if necessary, say, um, no, sorry.

@liberalpuppy @jpodhoretz So I guess Egypt's popularity doesn't matter after all. Why should Israel? We at least get a return on the investment from them.

@Det_Fenris @jpodhoretz We pay Eqypt to maintain stability in Middle East…if Eqypt started attacking Israel we’d use the aid as leverage to get them to stop…if they didn’t stop we’d end the aid

@liberalpuppy @jpodhoretz From what I can tell, Ukraine is still getting billions in aid every year. You still haven't explained why other countries don't have to worry about their popularity with American pollsters.

@Det_Fenris @jpodhoretz Aid for Ukraine was very popular…then lost support from Republicans and now it’s gone Aid for Eqypt only happens because of aid for Israel

@liberalpuppy @jpodhoretz What about Ukraine, Jordan, Egypt, Ethiopia, Somalia, Nigeria, Afghanistan? I have never once heard anyone talk about their "popularity" with voters. Why are you singling out Israel?

@Det_Fenris @jpodhoretz Well their popularity would have a direct relationship to those Congressional Reps that vote for it…aid to North Korea would be tough

@liberalpuppy @jpodhoretz Lots of countries receive foreign aid from the US. Is their popularity in polls a factor?

@liberalpuppy @jpodhoretz America depends on Israel also. Israel develops new technology and shares it with us. Israel tests our weapons system in combat and shares the date with us. The Mossad shares vast amounts of vital intelligence with us.

@liberalpuppy @jpodhoretz Again, you have not explained why Israel should be concerned with "public support". Does "public support" make Israel safer in any way? Does it make terrorists go away? Does it make remove Iran's and Hamas and Hizbullah's genocidal intentions? What does "public support" do?

@liberalpuppy @jpodhoretz What does that have to do with anything? Should Russia or China or North Korea or Iran elect leaders based on how popular they are in the US? I mean those countries don't really hold elections, but if they did...

@Det_Fenris @jpodhoretz I’m not applying any rules…I’m stating that Israel’s public support in the US has dropped and they could take measures to reverse this…or not

@liberalpuppy @jpodhoretz Because the same standards need to be applied across the board. You can't single out one country and apply rules the them that don't apply to anyone else anywhere on the world.
