TACOMA HIT-N-RUN VICTIM IDENTIFIED
Neighbors and close friends identified last night's victim as 50-year-old Rebecca Thompson.
"She was a good person. She liked people."
Thompson was hit near her home on E. 37th & Spokane Street.

TACOMA FATAL HIT AND RUN
TPD on scene at E. 37th & Spokane. Female victim killed.
No suspect vehicle description at this time.
911 call came in around 7:50pm.
This is a residential area. Investigators asking people with home security cameras to check for footage that could be of help.

According to @TukwilaPD no evidence found at mall to support gunshots were fire, nor any gsw victims.
Investigators say there was a large fight in the food court area.

Southcenter Mall on lockdown after reports of possible shooting.

"The mall followed its lockdown protocol while officers conducted a thorough investigation."
Reports of a gun being fired at Tacoma Mall earlier today turned out to be false.
Tacoma PD says a fight broke out. More info below.

At approximately 5:15 p.m., a call was received reporting a possible shooting at the Tacoma Mall, with reports of people running from the area. Officers immediately responded, coordinated with mall security, and began searching for witnesses and evidence.

BREAKING UPDATE:
Off-duty WSP trooper involved in fatal crash that killed a motorcyclist is a PIO for District 3 which covers Asotin, Benton, Columbia, Franklin, Garfield, Walla Walla, and Yakima Counties.
The Richland Police Dept. identified the trooper as Sarah Clasen.
She was arrested on suspicion of DUI. She's currently being held at the Benton Co. Jail.

BREAKING UPDATE:
After more than 40 hours on the run, Jason Foster is behind bars.
He’s accused of pistol whipping two people inside their Des Moines’ home yesterday morning.
According to @DesMoinesWaPd:
“We were able to track him to Sumner, where officers from my department, Sumner PD, and Bonnie Lake PD took him into custody,” said Des Moines Asst. Police Chief Cory Sarandon

As of 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Jason Foster is still on the loose. Police continue to look for him.

@DesMoinesWaPd telling @fox13seattle a K9 unit tracked Jason Foster to Saltwater State Park off Marine View Drive.
Unfortunately they lost his scent.
Police have recovered his truck.
Today’s search included multiple law enforcement angencies, including Taquila, police, Kent police, and the King County Sheriffs office.
We know they used at least one K9 unit, a drone, and helicopter in hopes of finding Foster.

@DesMoinesWaPd warning the public to be on the lookout for Jason Foster.
Investigators say he entered a home & pistol-whipped 2 adults
Children were inside the home at the time but were not harmed.
One victim was transported
to the hospital for treatment of their injuries.
Victims told police Foster was their contractor but that the attack was random & unprovoked.
Foster is described as:
• 51 years old
• 6’1” tall, 225 lbs.
• Blue eyes, shaved head
If you see him, DO NOT approach. Call 911.

“He really did take care of me. I was supposed to take care of him but he was taking care of me."
Messiah Washington’s family spoke with @fox13seattle from an undisclosed location Wednesday night.
His father, Jacque, fears for his safety after his son was gunned down in their Hilltop apartment building last week.
"He was kind, he was considerate. He was going to school. He was doing all the things he was supposed to do."
Messiah also acted as his dad’s caretaker. His father is a double amputee and required a wheelchair to get around.

"This was a violent and cruel attack. The evidence suggests it was racially motivated...[It] was very important to get this person off the street. This was disgusting behavior. This does not need to be happening in our city. He will be held accountable in the court of law."

WARNING: INAPPROPRIATE LANGUAGE AND PHYSICAL VIOLENCE
Court documents reveal more about Tuesday's hate crime arrest in Seattle's First Hill neighborhood.
The 42-year-old suspect has not been officially charged.
The judge setting bail at $20,000. Prosecutors requested $75K.
Given the alleged actions of the individual, Seattle Police asked that he be held in jail until victim could obtain restraining order.

Willie Stewart Academy senior killed in Tacoma shooting over the weekend.
Family tells @FOX13seattle Messiah Washington recently celebrated his 18th birthday.
He was shot and killed inside an apartment building in Tacoma’s Hilltop neighborhood on February 22.
So far there have been no arrests. Anyone with information is asked to call Tacoma Police.
We’ll have more with Messiah’s family tonight at 10.

“I’m in disbelief right now that this could happen in our building,” said one neighbor.
Tenants inside the South Building put up a small memorial for the 18-year-old who was shot and killed.
“When will the gun violence end?” asked another neighbor.

“They found him in the elevator.”
Neighbors tell @fox13seattle the 18-year-old victim was dragged out of an apartment.
The suspect or suspects then pulled him into an elevator. Shortly after, four gunshots were heard.
“I heard someone yell, ‘Help! Help!’”
This happened just before 9 in the South Building of Housing Hilltop on South L Street.
No arrests or suspect descriptions at this time.
Tacoma PD is reviewing building security footage.
