The inaugural Sneaker Ball was a resounding success, drawing over 50 families to an evening of fun and celebration. Held in a vibrant, festively decorated venue, the event combined the elegance of a traditional ball with the casual flair of sneakers.

Garvey's Swim Club, a haven for both novice and intermediate swimmers, offers a nurturing environment where students can hone their aquatic skills with confidence. Meeting weekly on Thursdays, this club provides a structured platform for individuals at all levels.

The Environment Club stands as a beacon of green hope. Determined to make a difference, they launched their ambitious recycling and gardening program at the beginning of the year. This week, club members rolled up their sleeves and embraced the earth's nurturing embrace.

Garvey's Celebration of Learning was a vibrant showcase of academic achievement and innovation, providing parents with a firsthand glimpse into the educational journey of their children. The event spanned the spectrum of student learning, from the earliest stages in Pre-K to 8th.

Mama Burton's After-School Arts & Crafts class at Marcus Garvey Academy is a hub of creativity and camaraderie where students explore their artistic talents while crafting heartfelt gifts. With Mother's Day approaching, the classroom is abuzz with excitement.

Autism Awareness Month serves as a pivotal time to foster understanding, acceptance, and inclusion for those with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The staff at Marcus Garvey Academy aims to amplify these crucial messages within their school community and beyond.

Wayne State University, in collaboration with Ascension, the Wayne State School of Medicine, and Detroit Public Schools, initiated a program called GOALS (Go Out And Love Science). This program provided an incredible opportunity for students to learn about working in healthcare.
