Apple is subtly altering the MacBook sizes in the comparison tool to push people toward buying the MacBook Air, likely because of the chip situation (the A18 Pro is no longer being manufactured, and the MacBook Neo is selling far more than Apple expected).
The MacBook Neo has a 13‑inch display, while the MacBook Air has a 13.6‑inch display. When I crop the Neo’s screen from Apple’s website, its diagonal measures 461px (under my setup: Windows 11, Microsoft Edge, 1920×1080, 100% scaling).
But when I crop the MacBook Air’s screen, its diagonal is 488px. If 461px corresponds to 13", then 488px scales to 13.76", which is larger than the real 13.6".
This tiny and almost invisible difference can trick the human brain into perceiving the MacBook Neo as smaller than it actually is, which may lead people to choose the Air instead.
