Yesterday, I watched a guy deliver a masterclass on “The Illusion of Control.” Sharp suit. Measured voice. The kind of confidence that makes you question your own notes. Then lunch was served. Same table. His knife slipped, hit the plate with a loud clink, and he froze—just long enough to check who noticed. Then he struggled with a piece of lettuce for a full minute. He was still smart. Still the same guy. But in that one moment, the image he had carefully held together cracked, and the real person showed. The stage is where people perform competence. The lunch table is where reality leaks out. Everyone is one awkward moment away from being seen.

Read this today My husband divorced me because he caught me cheating. But what was I supposed to do when he stopped taking care of himself, grew a beer gut, and went bald? I'm not attracted to that. He didn't have the wisdom to shut up and work on himself – instead he filed for divorce. Well, if you want a divorce, then here, take the kids and live however you want. I'm the one who gave birth, so you raise them. But then he wanted child support! I told him: I'll help out when I can. I'd send him like $150 every six months, but apparently that wasn't enough for him! He demanded the official 33% [of my income] And that's when I realized – he planned this whole thing from the start. Got married, had kids, ____ drove his wife into another man's arms, took the kids, took the assets, and put me on child support. Mission accomplished! It's a whole child support scam. And he turned the kids against me too. I'm supposed to pay 33% of ALL my income, and he can spend my money however he wants. He could blow it all on his girlfriend for all I know – I have no way to control it. Are there any ways I can get out from under this burden? Why should I have to pay him when I don't even live with them anymore???
