If that is the sole reason how come TMC wins all the seats with such a margin in greater Kolkata???
ককহ্ল ঋ্ঝ্বঁক্ষ্য@From_Himalaya
Much hullabaloo has been made over the Durgapur incident, but let me tell you, the primary reason behind TMC's holding onto power is Bengali Hindu women from lower (as well as middle in rural & semi-urban areas) income strata.

Mention of India as ‘’Jambudvipa’’ by Pala Emperor Devapala of Bengal and Mauryan Emperor Ashoka The Great this shows how our India was very ancient. @SantaniPrashemi @Saptarship1318 @SagasofBharat @monidipadey @BangaRakshaka19 @pArAsharyAyaNa @Alchon_Hun @PrasunNagar

For the part Highlighted in Green:
1. Estimated time of writing 12th-13th Century CE,
SriHarsha was the court poet of King Jaychandra/Bijaychandra of Kanyakubja and is regarded to have been a Bengali. Mentions various dishes made of fish, goat, deer meat etc. Fish eating wasn't introduced by outsiders.
2. Part Highlighted in pink, quoting from Prayaschittaprakaran of Bhavadeb Bhatta ( Minister of Raja Hari Varman, 1073- 1119 CE) ( Refer to History of Ancient Bengal by Dr R C Majumdar, page 457 in original edition) : Apart from Chaturdashi and some other auspicious tithis, Bengali Brahmins were allowed to partake fish-meat.
3. For the part Highlighted in Yellow, Brihaddharmapuran, (13 century CE), White and scaly fish such as Rohu , Punti etc were fit for consumption for Brahmins. ( All classes, castes of Bengali society partook fish)
Agreed that consumption of Mutton for commoners was limited to days of festivals and Bali.
Also, if you go further down the page you would notice that Pigeon meat was also considered a delicacy at that time. Refer to Haraprasad Shastri Bauddhagan and Doha, Bangiya Sahitya Parishad , page 12. Mentioning this, because I read someone tweeted a few days back that Bengalis never had bird meat. Chicken maybe not, but Pigeon, quail, partridge was commonplace.
All I beseech is for people to read a bit more than twitter threads and take genuine interest in the history of our ancestors. I guess you are young so would do due diligence henceforth. 🙏

Today is Kojagari Lakshmi Puja in Bengal.
On this sacred day for Hindus on Oct 16, 1946, Noakhali genocide started.
Sufi jihadi Ghulam Sarwar’s militia Miyar Fauj attacked the house of Noakhali Bar Association president Rajendralal Chowdhury.
Rajendralal fought the killer mob alone for hours with his gun from the terrace.
Till bullets ran out.
The mob invaded his house, took his two daughters as spoils of war, and presented Rajendralal’s head on a silver platter to Ghulam.
The Bengal Files by @vivekagnihotri captures the episode.
Do watch the movie.
Do know your own history, your heroes.
