An attempt to start a thread on #ShriPoonthanam. After getting a son after so many years, he had to deal with the grief on son's death even before the Annaprasanam ceremony could be over. He turned to Shri Guruvayoorappan

For last couple of years, across our family circles there has been a collective decision made that immediate family will not be forced to put patients(even parents) above 75 on ventilators. Everyone in extended families have supported this decision & ensured with proper counselling that no guilt factor stays on kith & kin if the patient dies eventually. Ventilators are a brutal way to punish the elderly in their last stage of lives. If they need to pass away, they should be going away naturally & on their own terms rather than artificially suffocate till their end..
Dr. Rakesh Bansal@iamrakeshbansal

In India, if an elderly patient is put on a ventilator and shows no signs of recovery, families face a very painful situation. You cannot ask the hospital to remove the ventilator. Due to legal rules on passive euthanasia, hospitals usually refuse. The only practical option is: Arrange your own ventilator at home, get the patient discharged, and take them home to spend their last days with family and dignity. This system puts huge emotional and financial pressure on families in their most difficult time. Truly heartbreaking.

A Russian student who disappeared in the Himalayas in 2021 during a solo trek was discovered four years later by National Geographic journalists as the guardian of a high-altitude Buddhist monastery in Nepal. 24-year-old Alina Vetrova left Annapurna Base Camp and never returned. A rescue operation lasted three weeks, but an avalanche left her presumed dead. Her parents held a symbolic funeral in Novosibirsk. In early 2025, however, a crew filming a documentary about lost monasteries discovered a young European-looking woman dressed in monastic robes and speaking fluent Tibetan and Nepali in a remote mountain temple at an altitude of 4,800 meters. It turns out that Alina, who had lost consciousness from altitude sickness, was found by hermit monks, who cared for her for several months with herbal infusions. When she regained consciousness, the passes were already covered in snow - the descent was impossible until summer. During these months, she began to study Tibetan medicine and meditation. According to the abbot, Alina had developed a rare gift - she could accurately recognize medicinal mountain herbs by their aroma, which the monks took as a sign of a reborn soul. She was given the name Tenzin Dolma and began training to succeed the monastery's apothecary, a position not held by anyone for 40 years. Alina is now in charge of a collection of over 600 species of high-altitude plants. She wears a traditional burgundy robe, her head is shaved, and on her wrists she wears ritual yak bone bracelets, which she is allowed to wear as a sign of status. A dot of saffron paste is applied to her forehead daily during the morning ceremony. When journalists ask her if she wants to return, Alina replies in Russian with a strong accent: “I’m already home. The mountains do not let out those they choose.” Her parents have flown to Kathmandu. The meeting is scheduled for the end of the month.

Please don’t stop buying gold. 🙏🏻 But buy physical gold for yourself not gold bonds or paper gold. Keep your finance in your hands, don’t give the control to the ‘system’.

It is funny to see those who don’t believe in the concept of a deity fight out their right to worship one just to score academic brownie points. You need a lot of high level intelligence to decipher what is going on in the higher echelons of Indian Spirituality.

During Day 10 of the Sabarimala reference, the Bench cautions that unrestricted individual claims under Article 25 may risk the “annihilation of religion,” as arguments on temple entry and equality continue.
