👇Study finds higher use of contingent protections by women-led nations, especially against male-led nations. Instead of indicating protectionist tendencies, it highlights female leaders' assertion to counter gender stereotypes in international relations. devasmitajena.wixsite.com/trade-worm/pos…

@economics_bs In addition to “Gravity at 60: the Bijou of Trade”, "Advanced Guide to Trade Policy Analysis: The Structural Gravity Model" by @YotovG et. al is an excellent guide on how to apply gravity model. The book instills confidence in the reader on handling gravity.

I have a student potentially interested in using the gravity model. What are a couple resources that give a tractable intro to the topic? What are 2-3 papers that demonstrate the breadth of its use that might be interesting to someone not yet in the weeds of the discipline?

Who was the first Indian woman with formal training in economics? I have asked several experts but there is no clear answer. Meanwhile, I accidentally came across this excerpt from the Mysore Economic Journal, circa 1934. Over to you, @kadambari_shah @shreyas_nl @srajagopalan

Narayana Murthy seems to suggest Indian workers are lazy. In a two-part series, @Roshanjnu and I checked 1. If Indian workers are lazy ⬇️, and 2. If there are enough employers for hard-working job seekers (out tomorrow)

Yesterday my students asked me to suggest fiction and films which have some connection to economics. Here's what I could think of. Please add your suggestions.
