It is an unjust scenario, in the face of which we cannot fail to question ourselves and commit to change things. There is no lack of resources at the root of disparities, but the need to address solvable problems related to a more equitable distribution of wealth, to be achieved with moral sense and honesty.

@teacherhead I’ve just sat through a ‘let’s prepare for Ofsted’ meeting (we’ve just entered the window) and I’ve decided to retire early. What other profession puts their members under such unnecessary scrutiny, and for what? I’m done.

The whole nonsense of inspection needs ripping down. Emperor’s New Clothes. It’s all horseshit - reaching valid/reliable high stakes judgements about a school based on a short visit by strangers who couldn’t do a better job but presume to judge. What a job .. demoralise a community of professionals with zero responsibility for the fallout and then leave, spouting crap about being champions of disadvantaged children. The delusion of it. 😡

@teacherhead As an a-level chemistry teacher I know how hard my students work to get a place to read medicine. So many are rejected at the first hurdle. It’s depressing that those who actually succeed are giving up on their dreams.

Spent a wonderful evening with daughter and four of her friends - all UK doctors taking a break from NHS, living in Melbourne. In Oz, they can earn enough to live on for a month in a week as a locum. Bitter/frustrated that 10 years after starting medicine degree, their NHS careers seem precarious; uncertain. Too many bottlenecks; not enough security. It’s madness. @UKLabour @wesstreeting this needs sorting.

Isn't it interesting that all those people who want women in Iran to be free to wear whatever they like, are up in arms about Green MP Hannah Spencer wearing what she likes. In fact most have a history of controlling what women can and can't wear. 😬🤦🤷
