@FeerTwitch If in the rlcs we get to see every time someone gets a reset its going to make for some hype moments where something weird happens like this and people are waiting to see whats done with it.

@KingRobinSB@JamaicanCocoRL I think that view focuses too much on mechanics, which Rocket League players already do, and push decision-making and strategy to the side. I'm not saying htiboxes matter more than skill, but acting like small strategic edges are irrelevant in an esport isn't right either.
@DevilsHornsHa@JamaicanCocoRL I think you overestimate the potential. Games are generally decided by how well the players perform, and not by focusing on a single small aspect of the game. Most people just play better in a car they’re comfortable with and switching would not be worth the decreased performance
At what point does the overwhelming advice of your most trusted and knowledgeable peers overtake your own conviction?
For years now, I've grappled with this question in my mind. Specifically, regarding my usage of the Dominus in Rocket League.
Although I am certain that the car has the untapped potential to be even greater than the octane hitbox, every single player that is greater than I has told me it's a lost cause.
Not only that, but with the recent switch from Dominus to Fennec, @TempoH_RL stands as a shining example of how wrong I am.
I don't want to abandon the Dominus. I want to be the one who brings out it's full potential. I want to be the one to show the world how amazing the car can truly be, but yet, the results I desire have eluded me.
Last season of RLCS, not a single Day 3. Not a single top 32 finish. Split 1 of this season, the same.
So here we are, back to the original question, put simply: How much longer do I give the Dominus until I heed the advice of my companions?
Here's the bet: If I do not finish Top 32 in these next 3 events, I will be switching from Dominus to Octane.
The first run starts on Friday 7PM EST. All streamed live on my Twitch. See you all there.
@KingRobinSB@JamaicanCocoRL Even if it is worse in other areas, it is not to the point where completely ruling it out as a possible strategy is reasonable. Its an esport, one where there is already little strategy to begin with. There is untapped potential here than no one wants to pay attention to.
@KingRobinSB@JamaicanCocoRL That may be true, but if players really prioritized the hitbox that does the most things well, Hybrid would get far more discussion. The bigger issue is that hitboxes are barely explored at all. Even if one is worse in some areas, dismissing its strategic value is lazy.
@JamaicanCocoRL Objective is probably too strong. My main issue is that hitboxes are a neglected part of Rocket League. There's actual strategy there that people mostly ignore. If a pro team wanted to specialize in 50s, they could even build around something like the merc.
@JamaicanCocoRL Let me give you the objective hitbox rankings coco my boy.
1. Plank/breakout
2. Hybrid
3. Dominus
4. Octane
5. Merc
I dont know if pros will ever seriously look into hitboxes. For example, I think nwpo could play better on breakout because it has the tightest turn radius at ss.
@JamaicanCocoRL I think the most important part is that the hybrid hitbox is nearly the same as the Octane, but with extra length and a tighter turning radius, which maker it a better version in my view.
Give Harbinger GXT a try if you got one. Apparently the model matches Octane hitbox better than Octane/Fennec. Idk if this is true but it feels pretty solid so far 👍
