I think this could have worked with a different plot but Henry was a little boy when the mind flayer corrupted him and made him kill his parents. I don’t believe he had the agency as a child to make an informed decision. Would have been cool to see an adult Henry realize the mind flayer made him kill his family and that he had not previously wanted to do that and was not thrilled about it. Sounds more realistic to me.
