Tyrion Lannister was the most intelligent man in Westeros. Saved King's Landing at the Battle of Blackwater. Managed Daenerys campaign better than anyone before him. And spent the final season making the worst decisions the show had ever seen from a man his intelligence. He freed the masters. Trusted Cersei. Watched Daenerys burn King's Landing and called it a surprise. The man who outthought every enemy in the show suddenly could not outthink anyone. And convinced a room full of lords to make Bran Stark king. And was rewarded with Hand of the King again. The same job he had already failed at twice. Was Tyrion Lannister the greatest mind in Westeros or did the writers destroy his intelligence in the final seasons to make the ending work? Or was he always just a man who was smarter than most but never quite smart enough when it truly mattered?
