The meeting brings together Executive Committee Members from Burundi, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, and Uganda, alongside the Chairperson of the Northern Corridor Public–Private Partnership Committee (PPPC). In the next days, deliberations will focus on the performance of the Northern Corridor and ongoing initiatives in Customs and Trade Facilitation, Transport Policy and Planning, Infrastructure Development and Management, as well as Private Sector Investment Promotion. This year’s Conference is anchored on the theme: “𝑰𝒏𝒏𝒐𝒗𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑷𝒂𝒓𝒕𝒏𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒉𝒊𝒑 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝑯𝒆𝒂𝒍𝒕𝒉𝒚 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑷𝒓𝒐𝒔𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒐𝒖𝒔 𝑻𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒔𝒑𝒐𝒓𝒕 𝑪𝒐𝒓𝒓𝒊𝒅𝒐𝒓𝒔.” The conference focuses on strengthening health-smart transport corridors by advancing road safety, occupational health, disease surveillance and cross-border preparedness. It also prioritizes improving health access for mobile populations while addressing environmental health, air quality and climate resilience. Additionally, it emphasizes digital solutions, data governance and innovative financing models, including PPPs, to support sustainable corridor infrastructure. In his remarks, The Executive Secretary of @NorthernCoridor, Dr @DiarDeng emphasized the importance of integrating health into transport systems, noting that safe, resilient and health-responsive corridors are essential for regional trade, mobility and socioeconomic well-being. He highlighted the significant progress made across the Northern Corridor; from modernised infrastructure and digital systems to enhanced border operations, while underscoring persistent health challenges affecting mobile populations and transport workers. He reaffirmed Northern Corridor’s commitment to strengthening regional coordination, promoting innovation, and advancing partnerships to build healthier and more efficient transport corridors. The conference was officially opened by the Cabinet Secretary for @MOH_Kenya , Honourable @HonAdenDuale . In his remarks, he reaffirmed the Government of Kenya’s commitment to strengthening health systems along transport corridors and underscored the vital link between mobility, health and regional prosperity, stating that “healthy corridors are productive corridors.” He noted that Kenya’s strengthened cross‑border surveillance and regional genomic lab for early outbreak detection. The Cabinet Secretary commended Roadside Wellness Centres that served over 200,000 mobile workers with HIV, NCD, and mental health care. He affirmed that the future of corridor health lies in technology, AI, and strong multi‑sectoral partnerships. @Aquaengnoq Gen. George Athor was a great man, he didn't deserve to die in the manner he was killed. You tried to salvage the situation, but the conflict entrepreneurs had sinister plans!

On January 7, 2011, while serving as the Deputy Chief of Sudan Intelligence Service; I ventured into the bush to implore LtGen. George Athor to endorse the ceasefire for the referendum. Not only did he oblige; but he also spared me & a group of senior clergy who accompanied me.

With Khalda Bolat & family after graduating with BSc in Geology, University of Juba. She was a daughter of a Sudanese revolutionary from Darfur Daud Bolat - who joined the SPLA in 1991. He was captured in a battle in Darfur in 1992 & then summarily executed. I’m her godfather!
