Fix the snare, shorten some tracks, insert some solos or even extended melodic sections. St. Anger wouldn't be bad if the average song was 3 minutes, some raw energy thrash but its not. It drags and it hurts to listen to. Shame because with the right producer it could be good.

But regardless as a whole piece I can't overly love it, listening to it in one sitting is ROUGH. The odd track on shuffle? Sure! But the full album in one? Nope nope nope. My biggest frustration is how I feel it could have easily been saved.

All in all I enjoyed this record and plan to investigate this genre and related bands in the future. I also enjoyed it managed to be a technical sounding album without rehashing any cliches like Djent does. I look forward to revisiting this album.

That said I wish some of the prog sections were extended and some kind of pallet cleanser was there midway through to help tracks stand out and be a bit more memorable, but this isn't straight up prog-rock so maybe thats harsh of me to say.

All in all though its a decent record, I can't overly recommend it based on how Marmite Limp Bizkit are but it has fun sections and some catchy hooks. Nu-metal is a really guilty pleasure for me but I feel this record is solid when the stigma is detached.

But I can't pretend I enjoy tracks like DGOW and No sex. The riffs feel a bit cliche for the era and even though the lyrics of No Sex try to tackle self-respect the chorus of "Shoulda left my pants on" just makes me cringe in a special way.
