for a decade, the entire crypto industry attempted to kill its golden (orange?) goose for their own gain. they said bitcoin was too slow, too technologically unsophisticated, environmentally catastrophic. they spin up a multiplicity of air tokens and exchanges to trade them. an entire industry of people dedicated to trying to get you to sell your bitcoin in exchange for something they made for free. then Saylor came along and amplified for all to hear the two principles that have been clear to every bitcoin maximalist since the beginning: 1) there is no second best 2) never sell your bitcoin and he built his entire company around these principles to prove that bitcoin could work in the way Hal and Satoshi imagined: as base layer capital for a bitcoin bank. and all of those air tokens and air token exchanges - who needs them? it’s no wonder the entire crypto industry hates him, but it’s very unclear to me how anyone who calls themselves a bitcoin maximalist could hate a man who instantiated bitcoin maximalism as the foundation of his company.

@LukeDashjr @Kurtis_NZ @dathon_ohm Data bandwidth is a massive one for the unbanked who want to so badly run a node and have to make a financial sacrifice in order to do that. Spam quite literally makes it harder as the total monthly bandwidth eats into a data flow. It’s not like the unbanked have unltd bandwidth!

@Kurtis_NZ @dathon_ohm After years of talking to people, it's definitely slow IBD, even if they don't realise it themselves immediately. If CSAM gets mined, it'll be that too. Even I won't run a node then.

@dathon_ohm Can you explain how it's fatal if hardware can keep up? Doesn't that prove it's not? Trying to learn here

@Kurtis_NZ If Bitcoin continues down the path to becoming a file-sharing network, then the risk is absolutely fatal, even if it is possible for hardware to keep up with all of the spam.

Updated chain growth vs projected storage improvement chart using more historic input data and better modelling. #bitcoin won't die. Worst that will happen is near term people will have to upgrade their node hardware sooner than they hoped.

My financial journey : Money became relevant to me at a young age . That does not mean I had any understanding of money though. I started working as soon as the local farmer was willing to start paying me cash. This went straight into the tin can ( piggy bank) I kept this tin can idea until I was 26 . This lead to learning about money and eventually to Bitcoin . My beginner strategy was to allocate 10% of my savings/investments towards Bitcoin. $100 into TFSA meant $10 into BTC . It really didnt take long for Btc out perform my TFSA so I started allocating more heavily to Btc . I was buying into a bull market hahah. Im sure you know how this goes now . Enter the bear . Here comes the fud . Here comes all my doubts . Luckily for me I unknowingly protected myself . I had already moved my sats to my own wallet . This made selling hard .
