A Different Direction Podcast

Quick programming note: Tremors episode 5, "4-12," is out, and episode 6, "Ghost Dance" is recorded. But it's gonna be a busy couple weeks in the TGIF Arcade household, and the release of the next couple episodes may be even more erratic than usual.

It's also a great time to start reading Miss Subways for our David Duchovny Book Club! We're still working out the details of how this will work, but this is definitely the book we're reading for when we do!

We've finished up our latest season, about The Chair, and are finally about to jump into the 2003 SciFi series, Tremors! You can currently find it on Tubi in the US, and, presumably, on Tubi if you have a VPN and are outside the US?

@c0llid3r Legit? Probably the wrong place, but we don't REALLY know what we're doing and don't make any money doing it, so it's hosted where we can.

Programming note: We got a pretty unexpected note from the landlord that we have to move by mid-August. So, while we legitimately hate to do this, the podcast is going to be on hold until, you know, all of that is dealt with.

We've had the next episode recorded for a bit, but it has been a very difficult couple of weeks, which have made editing impossible. Dave is planning to get back to it today and get a new episode posted very soon.

Reminder that for various (mostly work-related) reasons, episodes are going to be posted at the rate Dave is mentally able to finish and release them, at least through April. With that being said, the new episode is live!

A lot of shows that were cancelled in their first season got more than 12 episodes. So, does this count as a single-season show? Asking for a friend's podcast. @DifDirectionPod

Hey folks! Work and life and stuff is real packed right now, so the next episode is going to be a bit delayed, and the release schedule is probably going to slow down through April. Episodes will be coming out as we have the mental capacity to do so. Thanks for being patient!

A very good sign for tonight's recording is hearing Diana laughing loudly from across the apartment as she takes notes for this show that is absolutely not at all a comedy.

We just did a 2+ hour recording about a 25-minute sitcom episode that was the same plot as the episode we talked about last week. We are, arguably, bad at podcasting. By which I mean, I would argue with anyone who would ever say that, because we're goddamn incredible podcasters.

The new episode is actually live something close to on time this week! And for that... we're so very sorry to subject you to this.

In our years of podcasting about TV, I've said some wild things about what I felt like the writers were doing. This week's @DifDirectionPod is the first time one of those actually kinda happened in the show canon, and... I gotta say, this one doesn't feel good to be right about.

Forgot to give an update sooner. Still working on getting the latest episode up, but Dave did get got. He's fine, but editing has been a bit slow, and we can't give a timeline right now for when we record the next one once this one is up.

Dave had a close covid exposure and is isolating from Diana this week. So, we should have the new episode up soon, but will likely be then delaying the next episode at least a week.

Prepping for this week's @DifDirectionPod recording, I accidentally read the description for next week's episode of Ferris Bueller, and holy crap, I haven't been this excited to watch some nonsense since I read the title "Desert Squid! Myth or Legend?"

Just figured out a weird audio glitch from the latest episode! It's either a) a very easy fix and there will be a fixed file in the feed later this morning, or b) will require completely re-editing the episode, and there will be a fixed file in the feed never.

Dave's on vacation, which could make recording and releasing an episode easier, but instead we decided not to because sometimes it's more fun to not do the thing? Anyway, we'll be back next week!
