We've never been given more tools than ever before to do our jobs in marketing. With the proliferation of AI everything should become easier, faster. And yet, I feel more overwhelmed than ever before in my entire adult working life which at this point is going on 18 years. Why? It's the explosion of AI and AI tools and what I should or shouldn't be using / trying / scaling. It's this FOMO of always being behind everyone else because the algos are pushing this style content out the fastest and every podcast, conference, and conversation starts and ends with AI and automation. It also keeps flagging that all yours job will be replaced by AI in 1 year. Combine all this and you have a overworked, stressed-out person trying to do the job they were hired to do, well. But always feel like it isn't enough because "AI." If this is you, know you're not alone. But I wanted to be a voice of reason and calm in the chaos. If you have done ANYTHING in AI, meaning if you even know how to do a prompt in Claude / Gemini / GPT you're already ahead of the pack. Reminder most of these new "tools" are just people with time on their hands trying and testing new ideas. Most embellish, few deliver. So while your feed haunts you with this automation tool, or a doomerism post declares your job is next. Know that for the most part this is mostly BS. The reality is we don't know and all these tools still need an expert running them. Focus on learning the basics and doing it well. Learn small skills in the time you have, but stay focused on what you're good at. I've become fully immersed in the AI side of my business but I'm not building SaaS tools, instead I'm looking for ways to automate tasks I do that I simply think having it automated would equal me being able to do other things (more important things) much better. And I believe that's the main point in all of this. Use AI to automate the things you hate so you can focus on the things you love more. Don't get wrapped up in "the next new thing" and instead just stay focused on your lane and your goals. Before you know it you're spending 6-8 hrs a day doing what you love, lowering your stress and FOMO, and realizing it was all a grift in your head.

Check your ad account settings We have some that had "Automatic adjustments" turned ON overnight by Meta, resulting in all sorts of weird stuff being applied to our campaigns From budget adjustments, creative "enhancements", and so on

Media buyers, look out: I'm seeing unusual issues with Meta Ads Manager at the ad level. When editing an ad and scrolling down past sections, some features are being activated without touching them. I've caught two things unintentionally activating today: 1. Promotions (see video) 2. Advantage+ creative text generation If I hit 'Publish' in this ad or exit out of this ad and then go to review and publish, not only would I inadvertently push this change, but I would also wipe all engagements from this ad. Yikes. Activating this Promotion change would introduce a new, unintended, and untested email capture flow and discount. I wonder how many people have been affected by this without even realizing it... Check your recent ad edits! Always good to be extra careful about when the publish button turns green, especially if you haven't made any changes yet, especially today! Anyone else seeing this?

@PhilKiel They’ve definitely been running this for a while intermittently, and can imagine in an ASC set up it’s working well.

I can’t imagine this ad performs very well with cold audiences. I still like its vibe though 👌

Day 2 of being locked out of Meta because they can't seem to fix their 2FA mess. Crazy that I'm premium partner agency, in disruptors with a brand and still dealing with this. Imagine not having any help at Meta, you're screwed. Let's hope I can get in by 8am PST so I can finish the build that I was literally in the middle of that Meta booted me out of Ads Manager over yesterday. As a reminder, text log-ins failed beause of how many times Meta logged me out of Ads Manager yesterday. I've tried the authorization apps, they always give me some random code error when I try and add Meta... I really wish @MetaforBusiness could see this and realize there is a massive issue with how Meta is detecting IP addresses for folks with ads manager access. Going on way too long and any good PM should have caught this by now.

As you start a new week I encourage you, if you're following individuals that constantly preach and talk down to you on this app, mute or unfollow them. This app is about community and the sharing of ideas. If you're trying to learn and grow nothing will disrupt you more in that growth than following those types. Almost everyone that does these tactics has something they are trying to sell you. My philosophy on this app still holds and will never change: 1. Share vetted ideas with the community, not one-offs 2. Share interesting insights from work experience, but be mindful to not come off bragging or preaching 3. Don't try and think you're better than anyone 4. Don't write threads that have been already written, and keep most information clear and concise vs. flooding the tl. If you ever see me do the opposite of these things please call me out on them. I'm human too, and need grace as much as the rest of us. In the end Twitter can and should be a place of ideas. Many of us have worked from home for a long time (I'm on year 13!). This is honestly our break room. While it's easy to get wrapped up in vanity metrics, don't let your follower count or engagement rate change who you are. Anyway, that's all I got. Happy Monday!

@PhilKiel Well said! Too many moving parts to guarantee outcomes unless you have a proven offer/funnel (and even then there are no guarantees on a granular level)

Dyson offers a guarantee on their product because they control every aspect of it - quality of the components etc. How can an marketing agency offer a guarantee ie: we’ll increase your ROAS to X or scale you to Y When they only control a portion of the equation?

@DaveRekuc Yup. I honestly said I wasn't sure we could do any better because ultimately, they were just about hitting their goals and in my experience, doing the logical thing and consolidating could actually have gotten worse results. Sometimes it's like accounts get trained a certain way

In 7+ years running FB ads, I've never seen an account set up the way one I audited this week was. - 230 live ABO campaigns - One adset and ad per campaign - All budgets $25 - Nothing ever scaled, adsets turned off after a month if they didn't like them - 2.3X at 150-200k spend

- saying because they are 'small' a fashion brand with 200 AOV should only be spending 10k max a month on ads (when they just spent 40k profitably to hit their 140k monthly target) - telling a client that running more than one ad in an adset 'confuses Facebook'

What's with some of these ecom consultants at the moment? Recently I've dealt with or heard stories of them - wanting to run a load of A/B testing over BFCM - having no clue about iOS14.5 - saying a brand should only use FB for retargeting despite getting 2X+ TOF
