#OnThisDay 1922 Sir Henry Wilson, ex-head of British Army & Unionist politician, was assassinated by two IRA men (both WW1 vets) at his home in London. Wilson's death helped Westminster to pressure Collins to start shelling the IRA garrison in the Four Courts. #Ireland #History

@fallon_donal Sad to hear this - he was a great man 4 stories. He took part in documentary I made about Dublin suburb of Ballybrack where his family owned a shop in 50s & 60s. He supplied photos for film. I recall among his collection were photos of men with Nelson’s head on Killiney beach.

Sorry to hear of the passing of Pól Ó Duibhir. In March 1966 he was on the scene after the blast at the Nelson Pillar. He later allowed me to use his unique images in a book. They had never been published before.

@TadhgHickey That’s a poor & negative interpretation of what took place in The Hague - they judges by a majority of 15 to 2 or by 16 to 1 found against Israel & in support of South Africa on every point. Israel is now on trial for genocide & ordered to stop killing & harming Palestinians.
