GBP rankings are getting tied to social signals harder than they were six months ago. Most contractors haven't noticed yet. The ones who have are pulling away fast. A year ago a clean GBP plus reviews plus citations was the formula. Now Google is weighting brand presence, owner stories, organic content, even Facebook posts on the right pages. Parasite SEO and social posting are merging into the same workflow. We've got contractors ranking #1 in their service area whose Facebook page is more active than their website. Owner-shot video is the biggest single signal we're tracking. Not polished branded content. The owner on a job site, talking to the camera for 30 seconds about a problem they just solved. That content moves rankings and initial data points to positive indicators. Hard part: most contractor owners would rather get a root canal than film themselves talking about their own business. They'll spend $30K/mo on paid ads and refuse to record a 30-second video. The ones who do the video are eating everyone else. This is going to be the next major change in local SEO. Owners who become content creators in their own niche will dominate. Owners who refuse will pay rising paid ad costs forever.

Cleaning GBP sitting in my hometown for over a year now. Three or four calls a week, never fielded a single one. Bumped into a guy on Twitter running a rank-and-rent in the next town over. Sells the leads to a local operator. Did $2K last week from one profile. Zero ad spend. I have like four of these sitting dormant in my account.
