The US Senate Banking Committee votes on the Clarity Act this week. After years of uncertainty, this is the closest the industry has come to a comprehensive legal framework for digital assets in the United States. The bill would formally establish which crypto activities fall under the SEC, which fall under the CFTC, and broadly legalise most crypto activity in the country. A few sticking points remain, particularly around stablecoin yield and ethics provisions, but the core of the bill has broad industry support and sentiment among crypto policy leaders is cautiously optimistic.
