She was our class monitor, while I served as her assistant. Yet throughout the entire time we worked together, I never once had to do her job for her because of her remarkable dedication and commitment. Yesterday, Allah took the soul of our beloved classmate, the monitor of our online Tajwid class, Sister Bahijja Adam (Rahimahallah). 😭 For two years, she never grew tired of her responsibilities. Every morning on class days, she would send us a screenshot of the verses we were to study that day. In the evening, as the assistant monitor, I would share the Google Meet link for the lesson, and we would all join and wait for our teacher, Shaikh Al-Goni Abu Hafiz Aminu A. Imam (H). Many times, it was her reminder message that let us know we had class that day. What amazed me the most was that, throughout those two years, I cannot remember a single day she failed to carry out her duties or asked me, or anyone else, to stand in for her. She was a true example of diligence, trustworthiness, and selfless service. In fact, she is the only student I have ever personally invited to join one of my classes. When I launched my Qira'at class, I invited her, and with great sincerity she took full responsibility for everything related to the women's section, exactly as I had planned. Honestly, I don't think I could have done more than she did. Whenever we held our monthly Daurah, she was always the first woman to arrive, ensuring that everything concerning the sisters' section was well organized and properly managed. She rendered all of these services during the short two years we knew her, without receiving a single penny in return. If she was able to benefit so many people in just two years, then imagine the reward awaiting her for the lives she touched over ten years or more. From today, we will no longer wake up to her morning messages. 😭 Yet we will remember her every class day and at every gathering of knowledge we hold. May Almighty Allah envelop her in His mercy, forgive all her shortcomings, make her grave spacious and filled with light, grant her the highest place in Jannatul Firdaus, and bless her family, loved ones, and all of us with patience to bear this great loss. Even though I've chosen not to say much for now, I think the most important thing in a situation like this is to show empathy for those who lost their funds and encourage them, rather than rushing to push new narratives. Let's not forget that Web3 has many complete beginners who are still learning how everything works. As experienced members of the ecosystem, we have a responsibility to communicate carefully. Saying things like, "I'm still buying $SUNUSI," "Let's do a CTO," or encouraging others to jump back in immediately may not be the most responsible approach while many people are still processing their losses. The $SUNUSI team may still be working behind the scenes to investigate what happened, implement improvements, or plan the next steps. Those efforts don't always need to be announced immediately. For now, the priority should be supporting affected users, showing empathy, and allowing the facts to emerge before encouraging further participation. That's how we build a stronger and more responsible Web3 community.
